Legion of Honor

Richard M. (Dick) Pitcher has reached a 50 year milestone of SPE membership and will be inducted into SPE’s Legion of Honor at the December 9 Section Meeting.

Dick is a WWII veteran and received an M.E. degree from Oklahoma State in 1947. He spent the next 40 years with what’s now known as ExxonMobil, but in his days it was Carter Oil, Humble Oil, and Exxon. Dick rose from trainee in Seminole, Oklahoma to Division Engineer in the Carter organization and became Sr. Sup. Engineer, Div. Staff
Engineer, and Technical Advisor when Carter merged with Humble/Exxon. Most of his technical expertise was directed to gas and gas processing, including design and construction of compressor systems, sulfur recovery, dehydration, and other gas facilities.
